Car Design News Honors CCS in Transportation Design
Car Design News has named The College for Creative Studies a top 10 school in the world for transportation design. The prestigious honor comes as a result of the outstanding achievement of CCS students in Car Design Awards (CDA) competitions taking place from 2011 through 2015.
The Global League Table of Transportation Design Schools ranks schools around the globe that have done especially well at nurturing design talent. CCS has previously been named Most Successful School in 2013 and 2014.
Numerous CCS students make the CDA shortlist each year, and many go on to become finalists and category winners in the competition, previously known as Interior Motives Design Awards (IMDA).
Ranked #1 on the Car Design Awards Global School League Table 2011-2015, the College was awarded one point for every shortlisted student and three points for every student who became a top three finalist in an Award category. The school received five points for every Awards category winner and, finally, eight points for every Student Design of the Year.
In 2015, CCS student Ahmad Ahmadalkhorasani won Best Production Interior for his Land Rover Multi-Modal Vehicle. Jason Chen and Dirk Wan won Best Innovative Interior (sponsored by Volkswagen) and IMDA Student Design of the Year in 2014 for their innovative single-seat commuter vehicle, “Life Cycle.”
This year CCS received 87 points — 10 more than the next highest ranking school — for 46 scoring students.
The Car Design Awards seek out, and reward, the most talented transportation design students across the globe. This year’s competition will conclude in August; winners will be announced on October 26, 2016
